EXHIBITIONS AT THE VESTEY GALLERY
A Tribute to John Ferneley Snr 1782-1860
This exhibition pays tribute to one of Britain's greatest ever equine artists - John Ferneley Snr.
In 2011 the British Sporting Art Trust was thrilled to acquire the painting: John Ferneley Snr in his Studio at Melton Mowbray. This vibrant piece of work is a depiction of one of our greatest equine artist by his son Claude Lorraine Ferneley and will be included in our 2012 exhibition dedicated to Ferneley and the beauty of his work.
John Ferneley was at his peak during the early to mid-18th century when his work became much sought after by exclusive patrons including members of the Royal family and personalities such as Beau Brummel.
A second exhibition will show pictures owned by the BSAT illustrating the wide variety of sports featured in its collection. Alongisde the pictures and prints will be a display of books, posters and memorabilia on the Olympic Games held in England in 1908 and 1948.
